A recent article featured in The Wall Street Journal outlines five things family foundations can do to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders to carry on their charitable mission, which include sharing the foundation history with younger family members, training children early on in philanthropic works, giving younger family members a vote in the foundation’s philanthropy, being open to change and compromise, and giving younger heirs time to commit to being involved in the family foundation.
