Two Armuchee High School Graduates Selected for Prestigious T.G. Harris Scholarship

Scholarship recognizes academic achievement, resilience, leadership, and a commitment to serving others.

Armuchee High School proudly announced the recipients of the 2026 Thomas G. Harris Scholarship during this year’s Senior Awards Night. Graduates Emma Peschel and Grace Fellows were each selected to receive a scholarship supporting their college education and future impact within their communities.

The T.G. Harris Scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, perseverance through adversity, and a heart for serving others. Established in 2007 in honor of longtime Armuchee educator, coach, and mentor Thomas G. Harris, the scholarship program has invested more than $1 million into the lives of deserving students pursuing higher education and meaningful futures of service and leadership.

Emma Peschel plans to pursue a degree in Nursing with the goal of becoming a Labor and Delivery or NICU nurse. Inspired by mentors who challenged and encouraged her throughout high school, Emma hopes to combine compassionate care with strong clinical knowledge to support mothers, infants, and families during some of life’s most important moments.

Throughout high school, Emma balanced academics, athletics, extracurricular leadership, and work responsibilities while navigating the challenges of a split household and financial hardship. Despite those obstacles, she remained committed to excelling in the classroom and serving others through leadership roles in volleyball, National Honor Society, and Future Business Leaders of America. “I have always tried to focus on becoming the best version of myself,” Emma shared. “This scholarship is a huge relief as I begin preparing for my future and continue working toward a career where I can truly help people.”

Grace Fellows also plans to pursue a degree in Nursing, motivated by personal experiences that shaped her passion for caring for others during difficult seasons of life. After losing her mother to cancer at a young age and overcoming significant personal and family adversity throughout high school, Grace developed a deep sense of empathy, resilience, and faith that continues to guide her future goals.

A dedicated student, athlete, and servant leader, Grace participated in track and field, FCCLA, and student leadership at her church, where she learned the value of teamwork, compassion, and leading through service. She hopes to use her future career in healthcare to provide not only physical care, but emotional support and encouragement to patients and families facing hardship. “I believe my experiences have given me empathy and a strong desire to help people in vulnerable situations,” Grace said. “I want to make a positive impact on others the same way so many people impacted my family.”

Surrounded by proud teachers, family members, and community leaders, Emma and Grace accepted their awards as the newest recipients of a scholarship rooted in service, perseverance, leadership, and compassion for others. These values reflect the legacy Thomas G. Harris carried throughout his life and career, and they continue to live on through the students who now carry that legacy forward.
